Calcined Bauxite

Calcined bauxite delivers a range of benefits in coatings and polymer applications, from friction through to chemical and abrasion resistance.

Calcined bauxite (aluminium oxide) is produced from Refractory Agglomerated Super Calcined (RASC) bauxite. The main constituent is the mineral corundum.

Our calcined bauxite can be characterized by:

– high inertness in various media;

– high Mohs hardness of 8.5;

– high refractive index of 1.64;

– high density and low oil absorption.

The addition enhances abrasion and chemical resistance in coatings, whilst its high hardness and density are valued in abrasive / friction applications such as brake pads.
